‘Complete workers’ legalisation by March 31’

SHAH ALAM: There will be no more leniency for employers who fail to complete the process of legalising their illegal foreign workers after March 31 under the Labour Recalibration Programme (RTK 2.0), says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister warned that after the deadline, action will be taken against such employers and their foreign workers who are not legalised.

Malaysia, he said, currently has two million legal foreign workers and needs a further 400,000 to fill various economic sectors.

Saifuddin Nasution also said he will be holding talks with the Human Resources Ministry to see how the country can manage the intake of foreign workers better and legally.

He was speaking to the media yesterday during his visit to the Selangor Immigration Department to check out how the RTK 2.0 was being conducted.

On his visit, the minister said he was satisfied with the whole process although there was still room for improvement.
