Over half a million Padu registrations in three days, says chief statistician

PETALING JAYA: The newly launched Central Database Hub (Padu) has surpassed half a million registrations as of noon Friday (Jan 5), says Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin.

The Statistics Department Malaysia (DOSM) chief statistician said that as of noon Friday, Padu had received 612,807 new registrations, with Selangor being the state with the highest number of registrations.

Mohd Uzir said this is a promising start as the central database was launched only three days ago, on Jan 2, and the target set was 200,000 new registrations daily.

"This has surpassed our target, which we had set for 200,000 per day, but now we have more than 600,000 new registrations in only three days.

"There were 359,746 males and 253,061 females registered, with Selangor recording 148,547 registrations.

"Johor recorded 66,036, Perak (55,865), Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (44,359) and Sabah recorded 41,482 new registrations.

"Due to its small population, Perlis recorded the lowest number of registrations among the states," said Mohd Uzir.
