Elected reps mobilised in Melaka to encourage Padu registration

MELAKA The Melaka government will mobilise efforts to encourage the people to register with the Central Database Hub (Padu) system launched on Tuesday (Jan 2) and will reach out to people through elected representatives and the 28 State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee Offices.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the move was to complement efforts by the federal government and ensure a more extensive and comprehensive distribution of assistance for all those eligible.

He called on the people in Melaka to register immediately with Padu to facilitate the delivery system for the government to channel the aid and subsidies.

"By registering, it will make it easier for the government to gather information on households for them to enjoy the various benefits,” he told reporters after opening the Taman Bandaraya Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park in Bukit Serindit here on Wednesday (Jan 3) night.

Also present were State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman and Mayor of the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) Datuk Shadan Othman.

Padu, an integrated national socio-economic database that combines all statistics from government departments and agencies, was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Tuesday; registration is now open until March 31 for citizens aged 18 and above to confirm or update their household data. - Bernama
