Man nabbed for allegedly hitting wife in Ampang

AMPANG: A 45-year-old man was detained for allegedly assaulting his 40-year-old wife during an argument at their home in Taman Maju Jaya here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the victim lodged a police report at about 2am on Monday (Jan 1), that her husband had hit her all over her body over a misunderstanding.

"She suffered pains and bruises on her hands, legs and body.

"Medical personnel at Hospital Ampang also confirmed that the victim sustained soft tissue injuries to her right hand, fingers, and legs," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 3).

ACP Mohd Azam said police detained the husband at about 5.25pm on Tuesday (Jan 2).

"The suspect tested negative for drugs and he did not have any prior criminal records.

The case is classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing harm and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act, he said.

"We believe the argument started when the husband got angry at the wife for slamming the house door too loudly.

"The suspect will be remanded for further investigation," he said.
