Perikatan leaders: No such thing as ‘Dubai Move’

PETALING JAYA: Several Perikatan Nasional leaders have rubbished talk of the ‘Dubai Move’ purportedly orchestrated by certain Opposition members with the aim of toppling the unity government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Perikatan’s Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said if the unity government was cohesive, it should not be worried about any attempt to topple it.

“But if their own ‘marriage’ is crumbling, then Anwar is clearly someone who cannot look after his own household,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Wan Saiful was responding to remarks by Community Communications Department (JKom) deputy director (community communications) Datuk Ismail Yusop, who claimed that the so-called Dubai Move surfaced during a recent vacation of Perikatan leaders, including government officials, in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.

Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris dismissed the allegations, saying that he has no information on such meetings.

He said the matter was never brought up or discussed by any Opposition MP, especially those from Bersatu.

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also said he has no knowledge of the matter, adding that he is now performing his umrah in Mecca.
