Year Six pupil sodomised by senior in Melaka hostel

MELAKA: A 12-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised 30 times by his senior at a hostel here.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the Year Six pupil had been living at a hostel here since April together with his mother, a teaching assistant in a religious institution.

He said the boy told his father about his ordeal when he returned home to Taman Bertam here on Sunday (Dec 24).

"The boy's father confronted the suspect by inviting him to his house on the same day before hitting him," he said on Tuesday (Dec 26).

DCP Zainol said three policemen on patrol intervened and arrested the 20-year-old suspect from Kepala Batas, Penang.

He said the boy's father also lodged a report at the Tengkera police station at 2.30pm on Sunday.

DCP Zainol said the suspect was also a resident of the hostel, which is managed by the institution where the boy's mother worked.

He said the victim was afraid to tell his mother or the hostel management while he was still staying there as he believed the suspect would harm him.

DCP Zainol added that the suspect has been remanded for six days to help with the investigation under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
