JEMPOL: A 16-year-old pleaded guilty at the Magistrate's court here to a sexual assault charge against a 15-year-old girl at a house in Bahau.
The helper at a food stall did not contest the charge after it was read to him before Magistrate Norshazwani Ishak.
The teenager was charged with committing the offence against the minor around 11pm on Oct 25 at his rented house.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for physical sexual assault on a child which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Magistrate Norshazwani then fixed Feb 20 for sentencing pending the outcome of a probationary report.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim who is still schooling and had run away from her home in Kuala Lumpur, had decided to put up for the night at the suspect's house.
However, the accused molested the victim while she was asleep.
Farahidah Zool Beri prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
