Newborn found near Penang mall was killed by an incision to the neck, says cops


GEORGE TOWN: The death of a newborn baby girl that was found on the beach near a mall in Bayan Lepas was caused by incised wound to the neck.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the result was known after the body was sent to post mortem at Penang Hospital.

He said the case has been reclassified under Section 302 of Penal Code.

"Anyone with information regarding the case can directly contact investigation officer ASP C.Jivendran Muthuliyar at 019-3469718," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 4).

On Sunday (Dec 3),the baby rains were discovered by the public at 5.55pm.

The case was initially investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.
