THEIR depravity knows no bounds – scammers put up a fake obituary of the recently-deceased singer-actress Queenzy Cheng (pic) to solicit for funeral donations, Sin Chew Daily reported.

These syndicates began circulating the fake obituary that claimed that the wake would be held at her home in Kangar.

The scammers encouraged her relatives and fans to transfer their donations to a specific bank account.

Cheng, 37, died suddenly on Nov 28. A former member of girl group M-Girls, she was said to have suffered from a brain aneurysm.

One of her friends, Carrie Tan, lodged a police report at the Jitra police station after she found out about the scam.

Tan, a lawyer, warned the public not to fall for it.

Cheng’s fans were upset that scammers would resort to such methods.

“How heartless can you be?” someone posted on social media.

Cheng was filming for the social media channel Squad Sekawan when she collapsed on Nov 28.

> A frozen durian factory in Raub, Pahang, suffered more than RM30,000 in losses after its stocks were stolen, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The thieves broke the lock of a freezer and carted away four large baskets of durian, said West Pahang Eco-Tourism & Leisure Farm Association treasurer Zou Sheng Zhe.

The factory lost 164kg of Musang King, 81kg of Black Thorn, 68kg of D24, 5kg of D88 and 2kg of D160.

“The thieves cut a hole in the fence and entered the factory from the side. Since they did not enter from the main gate, it went unnoticed,” he said.

Asked whether the theft would affect the delivery of orders from China, Zou said it will not, as they always keep 10% extra stock in their stores.
