No deals for cops involved in crime, says IGP


KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no compromise with any member of the police force caught committing crimes, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

Commenting on the recent arrests of policemen and officers in Penang and Selangor, the Inspector-General of Police said he had personally asked the respective state chiefs to issue the statements on the cases.

"We will not compromise if they are caught for being involved in any crimes, drugs or otherwise," he said when met after a handing over of command ceremony at Bukit Aman on Tuesday (Nov 14).

"On the three Putrajaya policemen who were arrested, I can say here that it was me who asked (the state police chief) to issue the statement," he said.

The same went for the statement issued in Penang on the arrest of several policemen for alleged theft, he added.

It was reported that six individuals, including three civil servants, were detained for allegedly extorting and wrongfully confining a man.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said in a statement on Monday (Nov 13) that a foreigner lodged a report at 10.21pm on Nov 8, claiming that his uncle called him to ask for a sum of money in order to be freed.

It is learnt that the three public servants are from the police force.

Meanwhile in Penang, an officer and six police personnel were arrested to assist in the investigation of a theft at a house in Air Itam, involving losses of over RM10,000.

Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin confirmed the arrests on Friday (Nov 10), adding that they were remanded until the following day before being released on police bail.
