Shahidan wants Pakatan MP referred to committee for liking Gal Gadot’s post

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has filed a motion to refer Jimmy Puah (PH-Tebrau) to the Parliament’s Rights and Privileges Committee for allegedly liking Israeli starlet Gal Gadot’s post on social media.

On Oct 30, Shahidan (PN-Arau) accused Puah of being a supporter of Israel, which sparked chaos in the Dewan Rakyat.

“He liked the post of Gal Gadot expressing support for Israel. Although it has been deleted, we managed to printscreen the post (with the like),” he said.

“I have referred him to the rights and privileges committee. How long shall I wait (for a decision)?,” he asked.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul then said he will reply as soon as possible.

Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) then stood up saying that he wanted to refer Shahidan and Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) to the rights and privileges committee for linking him to Israel.

“Pendang had alleged that I am a Zionist,” he said while referring to the Oct 18 meeting.

Shahidan, on the other hand, had accused Khoo of being a Jew.

“He (Shahidan) did not retract, hence I want to refer him to the committee,” he said.

Shahidan then stood up and said he was just making a general statement and was not directing the remarks specifically to Khoo.

Johari then said he will make a decision on the motions to refer the MPs to the rights and privileges committee in two to three days.

On Oct 18, chaos broke out in the House when Khoo interrupted Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s (PN-Pagoh) debate on Budget 2024, and passed remarks on Muhyiddin’s son-in-law’s whereabouts.

This resulted in a shouting match. Over the course of the heated exchange, Awang told Khoo to stop acting like a “Zionist”.
