Python slithers into student hostel in Melaka

ALOR GAJAH: A group of students staying at a college's hostel here were startled when a python slithered into their hostel and hid underneath a study table.

Alor Gajah Civil Defence Force (APM) operation, natural disaster and logistics officer Leftenan (PA) Abdul Hadi Baharom said the one-metre long python was discovered by a student who was preparing to attend a lecture at the college in Lendu here at 9am on Monday (Oct 23).

He said the student was worried that the snake would attack and vacated the room before making an emergency call.

"The python had coiled itself underneath the table and we managed to catch it," he said on Tuesday (Oct 24).

He added that the python was released into the wild on the same day.
