Jepak polls: Three-way fight for Sarawak state seat


BINTULU: It is a three-way fight for the Jepak by-election here following the closing of the nomination centre at 10am on Saturday (Oct 21).

Returning officer Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey announced that three candidates had successfully filed their nomination papers.

The three are Iskandar Turkee of Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Joseph Sumbang of Parti Bumi Kenyalang and Chieng Lea Ping of Aspirasi.

The by-election is being called following the death of six-term assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilp on September 15 at the age of 72 due to health complications.

The Election Commission has fixed November 4 for polling.

Jepak has 22,804 voters based on the electoral roll as of Sept 15.
