Suspect in condo lift robbery nabbed in Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a man for allegedly robbing a teenager in an elevator at an apartment here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the 43-year-old was arrested at the same apartment at around 11am on Tuesday (Oct 17).

“The victim, who is a 14-year-old boy, lodged a police report on Sunday (Oct 15) at around 5.25pm after he was robbed by a helmet wearing man inside an elevator.

“Following the report, police raided an apartment unit and arrested the suspect. We also seized a mobile phone, a pair of shoes and a pair of jeans from him,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (Oct 18).

ACP Raub added the suspect's criminal record included three drug offences.

He said the suspect also tested positive for morphine and the case was being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

A 32-second video clip of the victim being robbed inside the elevator had gone viral on various social media platforms.
