'Dakwa Zahid' protesters gather outside Masjid Kg Baru

KUALA LUMPUR: About 400 people holding placards of 'Dakwa Zahid" or "Prosecute Zahid" have gathered in front of Masjid Kg Baru.

They shouted "takbir"," Allahuakbar" and "Reformasi" to cars passing by as a few of the organisers stood on a lorry giving speeches.

Former Umno Putrajaya deputy chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz started off by saying; "no rally today, we are just gathering to voice our views".

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for all 47 graft charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds by the High Court after Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar applied for the charges against Zahid to be dropped at the onset of the hearings on Sept 4.

This was after the Attorney General's Chambers accepted a letter sent by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seeking a review of the charges against Ahmad Zahid on Feb 20 2023, according to Ahmad Zahid’s lawyers’ statement.
