Sarawak's Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip passes away


KUCHING: Sarawak's Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip has passed away here.

Talib, 72, was reported to have died at about 6pm on Friday (Sept 15) in a private hospital here after being unwell.

An obituary notice shared on WhatsApp to the media stated that he would be laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim cemetery here at about 9pm.

Talib, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, was re-elected as Jepak assemblyman for a sixth term in the 2021 Sarawak Election.

He was first elected in 1996 when the constituency was created.

Talib served as Minister in the Chief Minister's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) from 2017 to 2021.

He previously held several assistant ministerial posts, including infrastructure development, urbanisation and tourism.
