Clearance at JB checkpoint is faster than Singapore, says PM

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Immigration and customs clearance at the Malaysia checkpoint of the Causeway is faster than Singapore, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the improvement was made due to a close cooperation between Johor and the Federal Governments.

He had earlier visited the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex in Johor Baru near here with Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

"I could see that there are improvements. Our personnel from the Immigration Department, Customs Department and police are working faster and more efficient.

"The clearance is now much faster than the Singapore side and I salute the civil servants for making this happen," he added.

Anwar said this in his speech at a gathering with leaders from the unity pact here on Friday (Aug 25).
