Plane crash: ‘Please take care of my children', Mohammad Taufiq's last words to mother

KUALA LUMPUR: "Mama, please take care of my children. I love you so much, take care,” were the last words of one of the victims in the plane crash at Elmina, Shah Alam, to his mother.

Rohani Mohamed Ibrahim, 62, said she would continue to help her daughter-in-law Suzana Paiman, 38, to look after her four grandsons, aged three to 10.

She said her son Mohammad Taufiq Mohd Zaki’s final message would forever be etched in her mind.

"His wife is unemployed. Whenever he (Mohammed Taufiq) was out of town, my husband and I would help send (our grandsons) to school,” she said when met by reporters at the Ukay Perdana Muslim Cemetery here today (Aug 20).

Mohammad Taufiq, the special officer to Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun, who also perished in the incident on Thursday (Aug 17), was laid to rest at about 1pm today.

Asked about her son’s character, Rohani tearfully said that Mohammad Taufiq, the second of three siblings, was a person who truly cared for both his parents.

"He was very kind, especially to his parents. He would always call and ask how I was doing... he was such a good son, he never gave us any trouble,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Taufiq’s father, Mohd Zaki Abd Kadir, 69, said the deceased’s two children were admitted to the hospital due to influenza before he left for Langkawi on Wednesday (Aug 16).

"He sent his sons to the Ampang Puteri Hospital before going to Langkawi. Two of his children had influenza. That’s why he asked his mother to look after his sons,” he said.

In the incident on Thursday, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) business jet crashed on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway at Elmina, killing 10 people.

The victims consisted of six passengers and two crew members of the light aircraft.

The other two victims were a p-hailing rider and a car driver who were passing through the area at the time of the incident.

The ill-fated aircraft was on a flight from Langkawi to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang and had been cleared to land at 2.48pm but crashed two minutes later. - Bernama
