Elmina plane crash: Dr Wee extends his condolences to victims' families


PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong extended his condolences to the families of victims of those who perished in the plane crash near the Elmina Township in Selangor.

"Among the victims confirmed to have died was my friend Pelangai assemblyman and Pahang exco member Datuk Seri Johari Harun," he said in his Facebook post uploaded on Thursday (Aug 17).

He said he hoped that matters would be facilitated with ease while offering a short prayer for the victims.

Johari, 54, was a new face fielded as a Barisan Nasional candidate in the 15th general election where he won the Pelangai state seat in the Bentong parliamentary constituency.

He was subsequently appointed as the Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman in the Pahang unity government.

He was among 10 people who were killed when the light aircraft they were travelling from Langkawi to Subang airport crashed at the Elmina Township here at about 2.40pm.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that eight passengers aboard the plane and two road users were killed in the accident.
