PETALING JAYA: Hours after quitting Bersatu, Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman said he is open to offers from other parties who value his principles.

"I will remain neutral for the time being. I am not attached to any political parties nor am I rejecting offers from any party that values my principles. Moderation is the way forward," said the former Bersatu supreme council member.

Commenting on a news portal report that he is ready to join PKR, Muhammad Faiz said it was mere speculation, adding that he has yet to receive any offer from political parties.

Asked if he is open to joining Pakatan Harapan if the opportunity arises, he said: "Absolutely. Bersatu should have remained with Pakatan in the first place."

Earlier on Monday (Aug 7), Muhammad Faiz announced his resignation from Bersatu, citing discontent with the party's direction in the coming polls.

"It is with a heavy heart that I am forced to make this decision as I was among the first 100 people who joined Bersatu in 2016," he said in a statement.

Muhammad Faiz said that the party had continued to ignore the voices of the grassroots, particularly with the selection of candidates for the six state elections.

He said the same situation arose during the state elections in Melaka and Johor, where Bersatu suffered crushing defeats.

"History is likely to repeat itself in the six state elections, especially for Bersatu seats in Selangor," he said.

He cited an incident where candidates who were aligned with a "cartel" within the party and parachute candidates led to a revolt among members in Selangor.
