Pupils hurt by flying glass in van-bike collision in Seremban

The school van was turning right at a junction when the motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction crashed into it.

SEREMBAN: Five pupils sustained minor cuts caused by flying shards of glass after the van they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a motorcycle.

The five pupils of a primary school near Sendayan were then taken to hospital for outpatient treatment.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said the accident happened around 7.25am near a junction at Jalan Nusari Bayu 1, when the 65-year-old driver was ferrying about 10 pupils to school.

"The van was heading towards Taman Nusari Bayu 2 from Taman Nusari Aman 1 when the accident happened.

"Based on a preliminary probe, the van was turning right at a junction when a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction crashed into it," he said, adding that the 17-year-old motorcyclist suffered a broken right arm in the mishap.

The van driver and the five other pupils escaped injury.

The case, he said, is being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
