PETALING JAYA: A proposed special investigative body to probe abuse of power and wrongdoings among public officials must be legally empowered, says a corruption watchdog.

Law and Institutional Reforms Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had said in a written parliamentary reply recently that the government is committed to set up the independent body, which will have disciplinary powers, to improve the integrity of enforcement officers and agencies.
