Five students arrested for alleged bullying


BALIK PULAU: Five students from a boarding school here have been arrested for alleged bullying.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal confirmed the arrest and said the students had been released after their statements were recorded by police.

"Yes, I confirmed the arrest, but since they are minors, they have been released with police bond," he said on Sunday (May 21).

It is learnt that in the 11pm incident on Friday (May 19), the suspects bullied a Form Three student at the school toilet.

The victim was said to have been scolded and hit by the suspects for being late for Subuh prayers.

Supt Kamarul said the arrest was made after a police report was lodged on the same day.

He said the suspects would be investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
