Mid Valley Megamall, Gardens Mall closed after fire, no casualties reported


KUALA LUMPUR: Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall have been closed until further notice after a fire broke out at its external TNB station at 10.30 am on Wednesday (May 17).

The Mid Valley City management said in a statement that its emergency response team managed to contain the incident before Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived at 10.40am.

The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department said it had completely contained and put out the fire at 12.29pm.

"We can confirm that no injuries or casualties were reported.

"Relevant authorities are at the scene conducting necessary investigations and assessing the extent of the damage to the TNB substation.

"The fire also disrupted Mid Valley City's power supply and the management is working with necessary authorities to ensure power is restored as soon as it is safe.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reiterate that the safety of our shoppers and guests remains our top priority," the statement added.
