PETALING JAYA: All offices, hotels and shops located within Mid Valley City will resume operations as usual on Thursday (May 18), says the management.

The Mid Valley City management said, in a statement Wednesday (May 17), that following a thorough investigation by Tenaga Nasional Bhd and the Fire and Rescue Department, it had received clearance from the relevant authorities for the safe reopening of its premises.

"We extend our gratitude to our shoppers and guests for your unwavering cooperation and patience during this challenging period.

"We would also like to thank all local authorities including the Fire and Rescue Department, Tenaga Nasional and the police for their swift action and cooperation during this time," the management said in its statement.

Earlier, it was announced that Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall had been closed until further notice after a fire broke out at its external TNB substation at 10.30am on Wednesday.

The Mid Valley City management said in a statement that its emergency response team managed to contain the incident before Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived at 10.40am.

The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department said it had completely contained and put out the fire at 12.29pm.
