JEMPOL: Two Politeknik Muadzam Shah students were killed when their car collided with a truck at KM33 Jalan Bahau-Keratong here.

Car driver Chen Pui Xia, 22, and Norsyahira Rahmat, 23, were killed on the spot in the 3.40pm accident on Saturday (May 13).

Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the front passenger in the car, Nur Syafikah Shuib, 21, also a student at the polytechnic, survived the crash.

"The truck driver claims that the car suddenly entered his lane and crashed into the lorry head on.

"Eyewitnesses say the same and we are probing the case," he said.

Supt Hoo said the weather was clear when the accident happened.

The front seat passenger in the car suffered a broken leg and was sent to Jempol Hospital while the truck driver escaped injury.

Supt Hoo said the students were heading back to the polytechnic when the accident happened.

It is learnt that they had rented the car in Bandar Muadzam Shah.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the deceased on Sunday (May 14).

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1981.
