Trailer accident causes jam on bridge

Road hazard: The trailer straddling the concrete barricade.

GEORGE TOWN: An accident involving a trailer and a car along the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge caused a bad traffic snarl yesterday.

The accident, which occurred along mid-span on the island-bound side, caused the tractor unit to separate from its load, blocking a lane along the double-lane bridge.

Based on viral video footage, the tractor unit went over the barricade, separating the motorcycle and car lanes.

The car involved in the accident showed severe damage to its rear and right front.

The police and the Fire and Rescue Department have yet to release further information on the accident.
