SUV driver comes forward to lodge report over hit-and-run incident on Sitiawan-Taiping road


IPOH: The driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) who was apparently involved in a hit-and-run case involving a four-year-old child has come forward to lodge a police report.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said the incident happened on the Sitiawan-Taiping Road near the Temerlok junction at about 7.30pm on May 3.

“The child who was on a motorcycle with her parents sustained minor injuries to the legs, hands and face.

ACP Razlam said both parties had come to the station to lodge separate reports a day after the incident.

“With the police reports lodged, the case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving,” he said, adding that the viral video was detected at about 11.55am on May 5.
