MELAKA: A housewife has pleaded not guilty at a Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh here to a charge of dishonestly having in her possession RM280,000 in cash stolen from her husband.
The plea by Harsimran Kaur, 37, was recorded before magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman yesterday.
Based on the statement of facts, Harsimran was alleged to have committed the offence over the cash belonging to 38-year-old Harbajan Singh.
The offence was said to have been committed at a petrol kiosk in Jalan Semabok at 12.01am on Jan 8 this year.
Harsimran is being charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine or both upon conviction.
The accused was represented by counsel Mahajoth Singh, GS Gabriel and Navin Punj.
The court has granted Harsimran bail of RM5,000 with one surety and fixed June 12 for mention.
