Four suspects arrested for attacking Johor cop


KOTA TINGGI: Four men have been arrested for attacking a policeman manning a roadblock at KM7 Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said that they received a report from the policeman at 3.04pm on Sunday (April 23) about a group of "mat rempit" who hit him while he was on duty for Ops Selamat.

"We conducted two raids in Kulai and Johor Baru on Tuesday (April 25) and managed to arrest the four suspects between the ages of 23 and 39.

"Upon questioning, the suspects, who are all locals, admitted that they were involved in the attack as well as illegal racing," he said in a statement here on Wednesday (April 26).

He added that three suspects have criminal records related to drugs and crime.

"The suspects were remanded for four days, starting Tuesday (April 25)," he said, adding that no weapons were used during the attack.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstructing a public servant and Section 147 of the same law for rioting.
