Chinese private schools to receive RM15.75mil after Raya

PETALING JAYA: An allocation totalling RM15.75mil for 63 Chinese independent high schools (SPMC) nationwide has been approved by Putrajaya.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the application was approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister.

“This allocation will be transferred to the schools two weeks after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri public holiday,” said Loke in a statement on Thursday (April 20).

According to Loke, each SPMC would receive RM250,000 and the handover ceremony was tentatively scheduled for May 5 in KL.

Loke said he received an application from Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim for special funding for Chinese independent schools on Feb 28.

The allocation for SPMCs was RM12mil in 2019, RM15mil in 2020 and it remained the same amount every year until last year.
