Woman detained for allegedly abusing 10-month-old son in Petaling Utama


PETALING JAYA: A 26-year-old housewife was detained for allegedly abusing her 10-month-old son here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the woman was detained at about 5.30pm on Thursday (April 6) at her home in Petaling Utama.

"We are investigating under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days for further investigations," he said when contacted on Saturday (April 8).

The baby had multiple bruises all over his body, he said.

"He is still receiving treatment at Hospital Shah Alam.

"Medical officers at the hospital had lodged a police report on suspected abuse," he said, adding that the suspect's husband was not detained.

"We will investigate the matter thoroughly," he said.
