Dr Wee makes courtesy call on Tsinghua University council chairperson

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong paid a courtesy call on Communist Party of China (CPC) secretary of Tsinghua University committee and Tsinghua University Council chairperson Prof Qiu Yong.

The MCA president had accompanied Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a team of delegation to meet Malaysians currently enrolled in the university.

"Some 290 Malaysians are currently enrolled here at undergrad and postgraduate levels.

"The Prime Minister made an official address to Tsinghua University as guest of honour and answered a few questions during the Q&A session," Dr Wee said in a Facebook post on Friday (March 31).

Dr Wee expressed hope that bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, especially in higher education, will continue to flourish in years to come.

"May the warm bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, especially among our higher institutes of learning, continue to bring closeness and mutual growth," he said.

Anwar is expected to meet with China’s President Xi Jinping later today.
