Floods: Situation continues to improve in Batu Pahat


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Batu Pahat has dropped to 141 people from 37 families at 8pm compared with 263 people from 64 families at 8am on Saturday (March 25).

The state disaster management committee said the families were placed at two relief centres (PPS) in Parit Sulong and Ayer Hitam.

“As of 8pm, 141 evacuees from 37 families are still seeking shelter at two PPS.

“The PPS with the highest number of victims is at Dewan Orang Ramai Yong Peng with 79 people and SK Seri Medan with 62 people,” it said in a statement.

Two water level monitoring stations have also recorded a high level: a warning river level in Sungai Bekok at 18.95m and an alert river level in Sungai Sembrong at 10.68m.
