Shahrizat, Mahdzir and Reezal Merican appointed to Umno supreme council


JOHOR BARU: Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has been appointed to the Umno supreme council despite losing in her bid to regain the Wanita chief's post.

She lost to incumbent Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad at the party elections which concluded on Saturday (March 18).

Besides Shahrizat, other leaders appointed to the supreme council included Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

The two had vied unsuccessfully for a vice-president's post in the recent party polls.

The victorious vice-presidential candidates were Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Higher Education Minister and Johor Umno chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan remain president and deputy president respectively for the 2023/2026 term following a decision by the general assembly for the top two posts to be uncontested.
