Umno polls: Wan Rosdy still leading in VP race


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (pic) remains in the lead in Umno's vice presidency race.

As of 10.15pm on Saturday (March 18), The Pahang Umno chief secured a total of 54, followed by the incumbent vice-president Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin garnered a total of 52 votes while the Titiwangsa division chief Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani recorded a total of 39 votes.

Datuk Seri Azalina Othman now has 30 votes followed by Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican (25), Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad (15), and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (10).

For the supreme council position, Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah was leading the race with 48 votes, followed by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Kadir, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, and Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Some 164,000 members in 189 divisions participated in the polls.

Earlier, Umno suspended the Tanah Merah and Kota Kinabalu divisions from participating on Saturday following internal objections.
