Fama targeting RM1mil sales at Kelantan 2023 flora fest

KOTA BHARU: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) is targeting sales of RM1mil from the five-day Kelantan 2023 Flora Fest being held since Wednesday (March 8) at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) here, with visitor attendance to reach 50,000.

Fama director-general Datuk Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli said through its Orchid, Floral and Herb Orchid Festivals, it is able to expand its floriculture sales centre which can now accommodate 87 lots with the involvement of 70 entrepreneurs.

"This centre has been upgraded at a cost of RM634,848 and will be branded as RTC FAMA Kelantan Laman Flora.

"A total of 190 agricultural entrepreneurs have been given the opportunity to sell their products at this festival and 200 booths have been provided at Laman Flora, Pasarina and Medan Selera," he said in a statement today.

Elaborating, Zainal Abidin said that following the encouraging response to this programme, he hopes that the Laman Flora will become the newest attraction at RTC FAMA Kelantan in line with Fama's role as the main wholesale and retail centre for agrofood in Kelantan.

"Fama's role is to expand the size of the agricultural market to increase the income of producers apart from ensuring that agricultural products, especially from the Floriculture Industry and the Food and Agriculture Industry (IMAT) are available and can be obtained at reasonable prices for consumers," he said.

The 2023 Kelantan Flora Fest which opens from 8am to 5pm offers a variety of interesting activities such as food truck sales, Menu Rahmah sales at the food court, sales of clothing and accessories at Pasarina, in addition to colouring, cooking, flower arrangement contests, community games and so forth. - Bernama
