PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 251 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (March 10), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,044,969 infections since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 250 of Friday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while one imported infection was logged.
There were 197 recoveries on Friday. This brings the cumulative number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,998,652 since the pandemic began.
The portal also reported that there were 9,350 active cases currently in the country, with 9,012, or 96.4%, observing home quarantine.
The KKMNow portal reported that 338 patients, or 3.61% of the total, were currently admitted to hospital for treatment. The number of Covid-19 patients warded at intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country stands at six, with two of these patients requiring ventilation support.
The ICU utilisation rate nationwide stood at 62.5%, with nine states or localities recording ICU usage rates of more than 60%.
Putrajaya had the highest ICU utilisation rate at 100%, followed by Kuala Lumpur (75.7%), Terengganu (74.3%), Kelantan (74%), Selangor (73.9%), Johor (71.4%), Perak (68.4%), Melaka (64.3%) and Kedah (63.4%).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that no Covid-19 deaths were reported on Friday.
The death toll remains at 36,967.
