Actor, friends facing the gallows over drug trafficking offence


An actor and his three friends are facing the gallows over a drug trafficking offence at a vape shop involving cannabis.

Said Muhammad Ismail Said Pakir, 29, who acted in the TV drama "Hati Tanpa Rasa", along with Sarvinder Singh Hernam Singh, 23, Delson Dean Samson Akmal, 26, and Muhammad Amir Hafiz Zamani, were charged before Magistrate Wong Chai Sia on Jan 10.

No plea was recorded from the accused persons as death penalty offences fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, the men were jointly charged with trafficking some 494g of cannabis at a vape shop in Taman OUG Parklane, off Jalan Klang Lama, at 9.45pm on Jan 3.

The charge under Section 39B(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a death sentence or whipping of no less than nine times and lifetime imprisonment upon conviction.

Said Muhammad Ismail was the owner of the vape shop, while Delson Dean and Sarvinder were employees at the shop.

Muhammad Amir worked as a burger seller.

At the case mention here on Wednesday (March 8), Deputy Public Prosecutor Sareeka Balakrishnan asked the court for a new mention date as the chemistry report in the case has not been received.

The court fixed March 31 for next mention.

Lawyer Mohamed Ashmeer Ashrof represented Said Muhammad Ismail, Delson Dean and Muhammad Amir while Sarvinder was represented by lawyer Shastidaran Sathaiseelan.

It was recently reported that the police arrested four men in connection with a raid, where RM77,000 worth of drug-infused vape liquid were seized.
