Floods: Water supply restored to Chaah district

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi checking on the progress of the repair work for the burst pipeline on Friday (March 3).

SEGAMAT: Residents in Chaah who have been experiencing a water outage since Wednesday (March 1) have water running through their taps again.

Bekok assemblyman Tan Choong said water supply was restored to Chaah on Saturday (March 4) morning.

"The water outage was caused when a main pipeline burst at Sungai Chaah bridge due to strong currents. The pipeline has since been fixed and water has returned to Chaah.

"However, the pressure is still low as many people are using water at the same time," he told The Star.

Earlier, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that more than 3,000 accounts had been experiencing a water outage in Chaah.

"Apart from the floods, Chaah is also experiencing a problem with the lack of clean water.

"The burst pipeline has affected the water supply for some 3,962 accounts from Chaah to Kampung Sungai Haji Kamisan.

"SAJ Ranhill tankers have been deployed to supply water to the affected areas," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (March 3).
