Zahid: Hadi’s opinion another ‘political fatwa’

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s prediction that the government will fall is just another “political fatwa (edict)” by the PAS president, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.The Deputy Prime Minister was of the view that Abdul Hadi’s remark was a “bad prayer” coming from a “political ulama”.

“That was a bad prayer, and as a political ulama, he (Abdul Hadi) has his own ‘fatwa’ that only applies to certain situations.

“You can evaluate it yourself,” he told reporters at the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s monthly meeting here yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid also said there were more pressing issues that politicians should focus on instead of politicking.

“What’s important now is political stability and issues concerning the rakyat.

“Let’s stop having different views or opinions.

“If they want to change government, do it in the next general election,” he added.

During his Tuesday debate on Budget 2023, Abdul Hadi told the Dewan Rakyat that Perikatan Nasional should not be blamed if the unity government collapsed.

Instead, he said the government should acknowledge its own flaws and weaknesses.

At another event subsequently, Abdul Hadi voiced his prediction about the fall of the current administration.
