Two teens stung by jellyfish hospitalised in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Two teenagers are in hospital after they were stung by jellyfish while playing along the beach in Batu Ferringhi.

Housewife Rindu Rahayu Abdul Rahman, 41, said her sons, aged 13 and 16, had to spend a night at the hospital as they had breathing difficulties and chest pain.

"They were in excruciating pain after being stung. Their oxygen levels dropped, which was scary.

"They are better now," she said on Thursday (March 2).

Rindu said the family were not swimming and were merely wading in the water.

"We were not swimming. The boys were playing along the shore. Suddenly, they screamed in agony and we realised they had been stung on their arms and hands. We saw the tentacles stuck to them," she said.
