HONG KONG superstar Sammi Cheng, who refused to remove her mask at a public event recently, was revealed to have cracked her tooth while munching on junk food, reported Sin Chew Daily.
While attending the Feb 27 premiere of Lost Love, in which she starred, the press urged Cheng to take off her mask for a photo on the red carpet.
However, Cheng adamantly refused and sheepishly explained she had a cracked tooth.
“I ate something hard yesterday evening.
“As the dentist is only available in two days’ time, I was forced to put on a mask (to cover it up). I don’t want to say anything more about it! I was so happy munching on junk food, and it turned into a tragedy.
“Next time, I should just eat baby food,” she jokingly told reporters.
When asked if her husband Andy Hui was there during the incident, Cheng said Hui saw everything and even laughed at her. “Even the cat was laughing at me!”, she added.
Cheng, who plays a foster mother in Lost Love, won the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Award for Best Actress for her role.
When asked how well the film will perform at the box office, Cheng said she is more concerned with what audiences think of it.
“I have no expectations for ticket sales. Instead, I look forward to finding out what audiences think. The movie’s theme is unpopular, and it’s difficult to attract moviegoers,” she explained.
> Chinese model-actress Angelababy has won yet another court case for defamation, this time against a journalist, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The court ruled in favour of Angelababy and awarded her 10,000 yuan (RM6,432) in damages. It also ordered the defendant, whose surname was revealed in the verdict as Fu, to apologise to Angelababy.
It was reported that a senior Hong Kong journalist who goes by the name of Hong Kong Zhupi alleged that Angelababy divorced her ex-husband Huang Xiaoming and had “quickly” married Koo.
The journalist, who has more than 30 years of reporting experience in the entertainment industry, even claimed that Angelababy had gone on a honeymoon with Koo.
When news of the model-actress’ victory came to light, many Internet users praised the judgment and said it encouraged celebrities to defend their rights against defamation.
Angelababy and Huang’s high-profile divorce following a seven-year marriage shook the entertainment scene in January 2022.
