Mohamad Salim is new chairman of MCMC

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din has been appointed chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for two years effective Wednesday (March 1).

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced the appointment in a Facebook post Tuesday (Feb 28), saying he was confident Mohamad Salim will address many issues in the telecommunications industry.

"I believe he will address issues such as infrastructural problems faced by 3% of rural citizens who don't have Internet coverage," he said.

"He will pave the way for a golden age of digital technology for our country," Fahmi said.

Mohamad Salim was MCMC's interim chairman from June 10 to Dec 20 last year before temporarily resigning.

He was also appointed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) consultation and corruption prevention panel on May 30 last year.
