Chow Yun-fat, your wholesome neighbourhood buddy

HONG Kong superstar Chow Yun-fat, known for his friendliness, was recently seen assisting the operators of a fruit stall in taking a family photograph, according to China Press.

Internet users shared an image of Chow, 67, standing in front of a camera on a tripod and concentrating on getting the perfect shot.

When he was done, the actor, who was dressed in his usual running gear, even autographed a banner in front of the store, which was located in Yau Ma Tei.

“Did the fruit store give him a special discount?” one netizen quipped.

Many Internet users shared their own pleasant encounters with Chow when they bumped into him in public.

He is often seen taking public transportation or shopping for groceries.

Chow has been banned from working in mainland China after he voiced support for the 2019-2020 Hong Kong protests.

> A Chinese national on a visit to Malaysia has praised the retail staff of a Kuala Lumpur store for not basing their service on the customer’s appearance, China Press reported.

“Look at how I am dressed. Yet, they still served me with enthusiasm,” she said in a brief video about her experience while shopping at a mall in the capital city.

The video, titled “Retail Staff from Civilised Societies Do Not Judge Others by their Appearance”, has since gone viral.

She said the staff were attentive to her.

“All of them served me personally.

“Do you think you will see this in my country? If you carry this kind of handbag and you don’t look good, the people there will look down on you. Aiyo!” she said.

This led to other people commenting on the post and saying that they loved the warmth they experienced in Malaysian shopping malls.

“Malaysian retail staff really serve you sincerely,” one netizen wrote.

Others remarked that employees in China should emulate Malaysia by raising the standard of its overall retail service.
