Fawn to be wild: Male hog deer still on the loose after escaping from Zoo Negara

PETALING JAYA: The male hog deer which escaped Zoo Negara last Thursday (Feb 16) is still on the loose.

A Zoo Negara spokesperson told The Star that search operations were still in progress and the media will be notified once the deer is found.

Social media has been buzzing with the sighting of a deer in housing estates around Jalan K5 Taman Melawati and the Riverview Kemensah riverside.

Videos and photos of the deer sitting and running have been circulated in various residents' WhatsApp groups.

It is believed that the deer was part of a group of deers that are allowed to roam freely within the zoo's open area and it had found a way out through a stream that leads out from the zoo.

Members of the public who have spotted the deer may contact Zoo Negara search team leader Chris at 016-916 2359.
