Driver, 15 passengers escape with minor injuries after express bus overturns


BUTTERWORTH: The driver and 15 passengers of an express bus sustained minor injuries after the vehicle was involved in an accident and overturned at KM5.5 of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) early Monday (Feb 6) morning.

A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman told Bahasa Malaysia daily Sinar Harian that they received a distress call at 4.19am and a team from the Perai station was sent to the scene.

The spokesman said the six men and 10 women only suffered minor injuries and were given immediate first aid by the rescuers.

"An inspection found that there was no one trapped on the bus.

"The victims were sent to Hospital Seberang Jaya for treatment, and the case has been referred to the police," the spokesman added.

He added that the operation ended at 5.29am.
