Fireman bitten by 90kg sun bear in stable condition


SUNGAI PETANI: An auxiliary firefighter who was injured after being bitten by a sun bear in Kampung Kabu Sepuluh, Selengkoh Tengah, Yan, is now in stable condition.

Yan Fire and Rescue station chief Noorhamidi Ali said the 27-year-old Mohd Nizam Hamid's condition improved after a surgery on Friday.

"The victim's condition has improved after undergoing surgery to treat injury to blood vessels on his right hand," Sinar Harian reported him as saying.

He added that Mohd Nizam is still being treated at the Sultan Abdul Halim (HSAH) Hospital.

It was reported on Thursday that Mohd Nizam was injured after being bitten by the bear while trying to corral the animal.
