Kedah MB announces Feb 5 as public holiday for Thaipusam

PETALING JAYA: Feb 5 will be an occasional holiday in Kedah in conjunction with Thaipusam celebrations, says Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The Kedah Mentri Besar said that the state executive council had approved the occasional holiday at its meeting on Jan 18.

"This is to facilitate the Hindu community in the state in celebrating the religious event with their families, while for the non-Hindus, it is hoped it will provide them with the best possible benefit considering that the day falls on a Sunday (long weekend)," he said. - Bernama
