PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh’s Golden Globe award win has seen Malaysians from all walks of life showering congratulatory messages to the actress from Ipoh, Perak.
Joining the scores of Malaysians praising Yeoh was MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“Congratulations Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh for making Malaysia proud by being the country's first ever Golden Globe winner!” the Ayer Hitam MP said in a Facebook post Wednesday (Jan 11).
Earlier on Wednesday, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil also congratulated Yeoh, who starred in Hollywood blockbusters such as Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Crazy Rich Asians, and also the James Bond flick - Tomorrow Never Dies.
"What an amazing feat, and definitely well-deserved. A great honour for the country,” Fahmi said in a tweet on Wednesday.
Yeoh, 60, made history by being Malaysia's first ever Golden Globe award winner, beating Lesley Manville (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris), Margot Robbie (Babylon), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu) and Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) in the Best Actress award in a musical or comedy film category.
Yeoh was also recently named 2022's Icon of the Year by Time magazine.
